Is anyone else tired of the “first century people didn’t have paper” argument?

They may have been literate --but Christianity was highly illegal from AD 90 when Judiasm outlawed Christianity until the Edict of Milan in AD 313 when Constantine made all religions able to worship freely. Very little writing was done because of intense persecutions. He did not, however, make Christianity the official religion of the empire. That was a few emporers later with Justinian.
