I got a email the other day saying I won all this money from England Is it a scan or real?

It was from Mastercard/Microsoft mega Jackpot, I sent the my name and Address and they email me back saying I had to pay Global Express Courier Service x amount of dollars to receive the cheque. Are these people trying to get money out of me and ripe me off or are they real?
