Spotting and EWCM and still period - Huh?!?

Hi! My husband and I have been TTC for 4 months now. As previously posted my period is like clockwork and I always have it on a 28 day cycle and always lasts 3 days MAX and is really heavy. This month it came and surprised me at day 24 and was light for 3 days, heavy for 2 days and now i have been spotting for 4 days!! That is a bit over a week ?! Any person on this site had a irregular period out of the blue?! Today i got EWCM for the first time in a Looooong time with spotting. This is day 8 of my cycle, but bleeding hasnt actually stopped the spotting is pinkish with EWCM. Anyway - my question: Is this spotting due to ovulation, but if it is why am i still spotting from my period? Took a HPT this morning - neg!
