What can the hospital do to remedy anxiety/panic attacks during labor?
As a chronic worrier, it comes as no surprise to me that I am having a really awful time with the thought of labor. My due date is in two weeks and I have been a complete wreck for months. I am doing what I can to try and relax by NOT reading horror stories online, exercising to de-stress, taking bubble baths and trying to use breathing as a relaxation method but this simply will not do. I am more worried about having a full on panic attack and losing control during labor than anything else. I was really hoping to be able to use gas and air to help me relax but the hospital I have to deliver in(we are military, so I have to go the hospital on base) does not offer the gas. So what CAN the hospital offer me to help me with my anxiety? i'm sorry, but the support of my spouse and my own relaxation methods are simply not enough in this case. So what does the hospital do with patients who have severe anxiety like this? There's got to be something they can do...
